Chairman of the Council
In February, 2024 Irakli Kobakhidze was appointed Prime Minister of Georgia.
In 2021 - 2024 he was the Chairman of the Georgian Dream Party.
From 2016 to 2019 Irakli Kobakhidze occupied the post of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.
Since 2015 he has been serving as an Executive Secretary and Member of the Political Council of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia Party.
Since 2014 he has been an Associated Professor at Tbilisi State University.
In 2006-2014 Irakli Kobakhidze worked as an Expert and Manager for Local Self-Government and Regional Development Projects, United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
Within the period of 2011-2014 he was an Associated Professor at the Caucasus University and in 2005-2012 as an Assistant Professor at Tbilisi State University.
In 2011-2012 Irakli Kobakhidze worked as a Strategic Planning Expert for the Council of Europe Office in Georgia.
In 2011-2012 he was a Member of the Expert Committee for the Human Rights and Rule of Law Program, the Open Society - Georgia Foundation.
In 2000-2001 he served as a Regional Coordinator for the Public Education Project, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
From 2002 to 2006 Irakli Kobakhidze studied at Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf, Germany and received a Doctor of Law degree (Dr. jur.).
In 2002-2005 he received a Master of Law degree ((LL.M) with honors) at Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf, Germany.
During 1995-2000 he studied at Tbilisi State University and received Master of Law degree (with honors).
Irakli Kobakhidze is the author of a number of legal textbooks, monographs and articles.
He is fluent in English, German and Russian languages.
He is married and has two children.
