Head of the NSC Office participated in UN Europe and Central Asia Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
9 November 2024The Head of the National Security Council’s Office, Levan Girsiashvili and the Director of the Crisis Management Center, Rusudan Kakhishvili, participated in the high-level Regional Platform of the UN Europe and Central Asia for Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Budva, Montenegro. The event aimed to address both the progress and the ongoing challenges in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) across the region.
During the Ministerial Roundtable, Levan Girsiashvili delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of involving vulnerable groups in the DRR process and outlined forward steps taken by Georgia in this regard.
Furthermore, within the framework of the event, the Head of the NSC Office held a bilateral meeting with the representative from the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, the Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Miodrag Bešović.
The sides discussed the national experiences in the direction of Disaster Risk Reduction and Georgia’s progress in developing the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS).
