The Georgian Government approved the National Strategy on the prevention, detection and suppression of money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (
7 April 2023The National Strategy on the prevention, detection and suppression of money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (2023-2026) and its Action Plan were approved by the Government of Georgia.
These documents represent Georgia's political declaration to implement the recommendations of the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures (MONEYVAL) and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) of the Council of Europe, and to take into consideration the European directive on the prevention of money laundering.
In addition, the adoption of the document is an important part of the process of implementing the 12 priorities of the European Commission.
Before submitting to the Government of Georgia for approval, drafts of the Strategy and its Action Plan were discussed at the meeting of the permanent interagency commission coordinating the development of conceptual documents at the National Security Council’s Office.
